Ann Elizabeth Church

In memory of our retired colleague and dear friend Ann Church, known to us all as Annie. Annie was born on the same day the NHS was launched, which seems fitting when you consider she dedicated her whole working life to caring for others. Annie came to work at the Macmillan Unit in 1986 and after a period became Ward Sister. When she retired from Nursing she remained at the Macmillan Unit as Volunteer Coordinator until her retirement.
Annie was hugely respected by her clinical colleagues when she was Ward Sister, and by volunteers when she was Volunteer Coordinator.
Annie was kind, caring, dedicated, and a great friend to all of us.
Thank you for everything Annie. Rest in peace.

In memory of my lovely Father,
Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad like you were.
Even though you’ve been gone a while and life has moved on, it doesn’t mean I don’t think of you and miss you all the time. I won’t ever forget you.
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.”

Patient referrals to our service have tripled in the last ten years. The existing Macmillan Unit was built in 1974 and is now far too small for the number of people under our care. We have been setting aside funds to build a new Unit for many years. We have managed to raise £5m so far, but a new Unit is estimated at £9m.Our patients receive the best possible care from our dedicated team of professionals and volunteers. Help us to provide them with the best possible facilities too. Please help us in any way you can to reach this goal, so that we can start the build.
